Toyota takes covers off Nürburgring-bred GRMN Corolla
Toyota’s performance arm, GAZOO Racing, has unveiled a new, far more intense, version of the GR Corolla, and Australia is one of its key target markets. Dubbed the GRMN variant, it's expected to land in 2027.
The moniker stands for "GAZOO Racing tuned by the Meister of Nürburgring"; the name clearly indicates that this upgraded model was honed on one of the world’s most famous and challenging race tracks.
Toyota has already noted that the key markets for this car include its native Japan, along with North America and Australia, with a limited number set to be made available locally. Weighing 40kg less than a standard GR Corolla manual, the GRMN ditches the rear seats.
That move is much like it did in the 2023 Morizo Edition – in favour of a beefy rear strut brace. You’ll also find bespoke full bucket seats fitted up front. It also features a carbon fibre bonnet, front fenders, front side spoilers, and rear wing.

he combination provides for a tougher look and further weight savings. It also features an extra dash of torque, serving up 221kW and 408Nm from its 1.6-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine.
The GRMN Corolla is to be offered exclusively with a unique close-ratio six-speed manual gearbox. It should be noted, though, that Japanese-market examples get even more of a performance boost than we do, claiming 224kW and 415Nm.
Riding on 18-inch forged wheels shod in wider Michelin Pilot Super Sport Cup 2 rubber, the real magic of the GRMN Corolla is its overhauled suspension, with Gazoo Racing replacing the standard twin-tube shock absorbers.
In their place, the GRMN features inverted monotubes at the front and upright monotubes in the rear. It also sits 5mm lower than the standard model, and Toyota even cites revisions to its electric power steering and all-wheel drive systems as well.

Local pricing is yet to be confirmed for the 2027 Toyota GRMN Corolla, as is just how many examples will be brought to our market.
