After more than four years of listening to owner and media feedback, Isuzu’s popular MU-X has undergone its most significant refresh to date, gaining a bold new look, enhanced features, refined suspension, and upgraded safety technology.

The updated lineup now includes the all-new range-topping MU-X X-TERRAIN — a flagship variant boasting a striking dark-themed design, the highest specification ever offered in an Isuzu SUV, and exclusive finishes.

Pricing remains competitive, starting from $46,990 drive-away for the LS-M 1.9L 4x2 and topping out at $73,990 drive-away for the fully loaded X-TERRAIN, with availability from 1 March 2025.

Looking to build on its position as Australia’s second-best-selling large SUV in 2024, Isuzu UTE Australia (IUA) is expanding the 25MY MU-X range to its most comprehensive selection yet — ten different model options spanning four grades and two turbo-diesel engines, paired with 4x2 or 4x4 drivetrains.

“The updated 2025 MU-X represents a major milestone in the evolution of one of Australia’s favourite SUVs,” said Isuzu UTE Australia Managing Director, Junta Matsui.

“Built on a foundation of customer and media feedback, this significant update enhances packaging and specification across the range—keeping the MU-X at the pointy end of the highly competitive large-SUV segment as one of the top choices.

"Following last year’s record-breaking sales results of nearly 18,000 vehicles sold and delivered, which was an increase of 27.2 per cent year-on-year, these updates further strengthen the MU-X’s appeal among motorists, effectively answering their calls and positioning it to continue its momentum on the sales charts."

Key Exterior and Interior Changes

Designers have sharpened the MU-X’s exterior with a fusion of Isuzu’s signature styling and contemporary aeronautical cues, producing a sportier and more dynamic stance. New LED lighting front and rear, a reworked grille, updated bumper designs, and fresh alloy wheel options enhance the SUV’s visual impact.

Inside, the 7-seat cabin benefits from upgraded trim materials, revised upholstery options, improved infotainment systems (8.0-inch for LS-M and 9.0-inch for higher trims), and a new 7.0-inch digital Multi-Information Display on most models. Wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ are standard, alongside thoughtful usability improvements such as physical volume and tuning dials.

X-TERRAIN Flagship

For customers seeking maximum capability with a unique style, the new X-TERRAIN features gloss black exterior elements, 20-inch alloys with smoked clear coat, lower body skirts, and exclusive Slate Grey metallic paint. The interior follows a black-and-red theme with leather-accented seating, red ambient lighting, and exclusive digital display graphics.

Refined Ride and Handling

Locally tested suspension improvements include new dampers with larger pistons and revised tuning to deliver improved stability and comfort, particularly when towing or touring.

Safety and Driver Assistance

The MU-X continues to set benchmarks for safety in its segment. All models come with Isuzu’s Intelligent Driver Assistance System (IDAS), now bolstered by new hardware such as the ‘Gen4’ Stereo Camera, improved Lane Keep Assist, Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control, Traffic Jam Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Brake, and a digital reversing camera. LS-T and X-TERRAIN models add a 360° Surround View Monitor for enhanced manoeuvring and off-road precision.

Capability

The MU-X retains its go-anywhere credentials with up to 235mm ground clearance, 800mm wading depth, dual-range 4WD, a rear differential lock, and an improved Rough Terrain Mode that works in tandem with the diff lock for optimal traction.

Pricing & Availability

Despite substantial upgrades, pricing rises only modestly. Drive-away offers start at $46,990 for the LS-M 1.9L 4x2, with the flagship X-TERRAIN priced at $73,990 drive-away including premium paint.

The 2025 MU-X range will be available in a choice of new and returning colours, including Neptune Blue mica for LS-M, LS-U and LS-T, and the exclusive Slate Grey metallic for X-TERRAIN.
