  • NMC President and CEO Yutaka Sanada visits Sydney as Australia plays a significant role in the next stage of NISMO’s international growt

22/05/2026, SYDNEY – From the iconic NISMO Omori Factory and Japan’s racing heritage to one of the world’s most dedicated GT-R fan bases, Australia is set to play an important role in the next phase of NISMO’s worldwide expansion.

·         Nissan Motorsports & Customizing Co., Ltd. (NMC), in partnership with Nissan Oceania, has announced a multi-stage strategy to strengthen the NISMO brand’s footprint across Australia. The initiative will improve customer access to genuine NISMO components, accessories, heritage programs, specialist knowledge, and exclusive ownership experiences.

·         A key element of the strategy is the creation of NISMO Performance Centres throughout Australia, positioning the country among the first markets outside Japan to offer direct access to expertise from the renowned NISMO Omori Factory.

·         These centres will serve as a direct connection to NISMO’s operations in Japan, support specialised vehicle restoration projects, and employ factory-certified NISMO Meisters trained under the brand’s global standards.

·         The first Australian NISMO Performance Centre is expected to launch at Nissan Ferntree Gully in Victoria during the second half of 2026, with additional locations to be confirmed at a later date.

·         “NISMO represents one of the purest expressions of Nissan’s commitment to performance, innovation and customer excitement,” said Ivan Espinosa, President and CEO of Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.

·         “As we continue pursuing our long-term vision of mobility intelligence for everyday life, we remain focused on delivering new and engaging experiences for customers. Expanding the NISMO brand in markets like Australia is an important step in connecting performance-focused enthusiasts with authentic Nissan experiences.”

·         The announcement aligns with the visit of Yutaka Sanada, President and CEO of NMC and global leader of the NISMO brand, who is in Sydney ahead of this weekend’s GT-R Festival. His visit highlights Nissan’s ongoing commitment to Australia as a key market for performance vehicles, heritage programs and enthusiast engagement.

·         Sanada commented: “The goal of NISMO’s international expansion is to bring the brand closer to customers in markets where there is strong demand for authentic performance experiences. Australia stands out because of its established performance culture, passionate GT-R community, and growing interest in genuine NISMO heritage products, performance parts, technical expertise and motorsport-inspired experiences.”

·         NMC was established in 2022 through the integration of Nissan’s motorsport and vehicle-customisation businesses, combining NISMO’s racing and performance activities with AUTECH’s customisation capabilities.

·         The visit comes as NISMO continues to build on the global expansion strategy announced in December 2025. The plan includes significant growth of its restoration, restomod and parts operations, initially centred on the legendary Nissan Skyline GT-R models (R32, R33 and R34), with additional vehicles and regional initiatives expected over time.

·         As part of its broader vision, NISMO also plans to increase its presence in more international markets, expand its vehicle lineup, enter new segments beyond traditional sports cars, and further strengthen Nissan’s long-standing philosophy of transferring motorsport technology and innovation from the track to the road.
