Leon VZx Sportstourer AWD confirmed for Australia
Part hot hatch and part active lifestyle, the new Leon VZx Sportstourer AWD has been confirmed for Australia, meaning CUPRA is bringing the nameplate’s most powerful wagon variant, ever to be offered locally.
Joining the refreshed lineup introduced in late 2025, the new model completes the Australian wagon range alongside the existing Leon VZe Sportstourer plug-in hybrid and introduces all-wheel drive (AWD).
At a time when high-performance wagons are becoming increasingly rare, it arrives as a celebration of a body style that continues to inspire a passionate and loyal following. That’s especially so, with 245kW, AWD traction and advanced torque vectoring technology.
Under the bonnet is the same drivetrain recently introduced in the new Formentor VZx. A turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine is paired with a seven-speed DSG transmission. Performance is immediate and substantial.
The Leon VZx Sportstourer accelerates from 0-100km/h in just 4.8 seconds. Beyond outright acceleration, the drivetrain adopts advanced rear torque splitting technology for maximum traction, agility, and driver engagement.

The system includes a dedicated drift mode, delivering a level of dynamic capability rarely seen in a vehicle that can also comfortably accommodate a family, sports equipment, or a weekend away. Externally, it features forged 19-inch Hailstorm alloy wheels.
Cross-drilled performance brakes, a shark-nose front design, triangular lighting signature and an illuminated rear logo feature. Inside, there’s leather-appointed upholstery, heated front seats with memory functionality, dynamic chassis control (DCC), and a power tailgate.
A Sennheiser premium audio system completes the setup. An Extreme Package will be available from launch for peak performance. Building on an already highly capable platform, the package introduces CUP bucket front seats trimmed in Enceladus Grey Seaqual and Dinamica upholstery.
These feature carbon fibre shells, while Matrix Ultra LED headlights, dark gloss exterior accents and upgraded hardware are standard. Most notably, the Leon VZx Sportstourer Extreme Package receives substantial Akebono six-piston front brakes, providing even greater stopping power.
To be priced from $67,490 plus on-roads in standard trim, it will be offered at a national driveaway price of $72,490. The Extreme Package adds a further $7600. Full specifications and ordering information are available on the CUPRA website or via CUPRA Agent Garages.
The Leon VZx Sportstourer is backed a 5-year unlimited kilometre warranty and 5-years roadside assistance. It’s available to order from late June 2026, with first Australian arrivals expected from September 2026.
