Only Cars' Hottest Wheels and Best Deals: July 2025

Welcome back to our Hottest Wheels and Best Deals series, where we explore the most-viewed and fastest-selling models each month. The July data is in, and we're going to take you through which vehicles got the most views on Only Cars last month, and which led to the fastest leads.

This month, we're taking a state-by-state look at these two categories, rather than the site-wide analysis we did back in March. If you're a dealer wondering which cars will sell and which will sit on your lot drawing a lot of eyeballs, this is for you.

ACT's Most Viewed and Fastest-Moving Cars

The Volkswagen Golf was the most-viewed car in the ACT in July. A zippy and much-loved commuter model, the Golf drew a considerable number of eyes in Canberra. Combined with the fact that the Holden Barina was the third most-viewed model in the state, it would seem that the nation's public servants have a thing for hatchbacks.

Despite their economical sensibilities, the Chevrolet Corvette was actually the fastest-moving car (no pun intended) in the ACT, delivering the lowest VDP-to-lead ratio of all the models tracked in the state in July. Evidently, there is still some appetite for speed and all-American power in the heart of Australia.

NSW's Most-Viewed and Fastest-Moving Cars

Stepping across the border, the Hyundai I30 was the most-viewed car in NSW in July. Another affordable and efficient little runaround, the I30 is a fantastic second car for families or a first car for those learning to drive, and a sensible choice for city living.

However, the fastest-moving model in NSW in July was actually two models: the Toyota CH-R, and the Honda Civic. Although the Civic drew a little over twice as many leads as the CH-R, it required more than twice as many views to do so, giving them an identical view-to-lead ratio. While the two vehicles offer a very different experience, it is clear that buyers in New South Wales are drawn to Japanese reliability.

QLD's Most-Viewed and Fastest-Moving Cars

Heading north to the Sunshine State, there are few surprises when it comes to the most-viewed car in July: the Toyota Land Cruiser. The Land Cruiser was once again the most-viewed model nationwide, but Queenslanders have a clear soft spot for big vehicles, with the Ford Ranger, Toyota Hilux, and Mitsubishi Outlander taking three of the other spots in the top five.

The fastest-moving cars tell a slightly different story, with the Holden Cruze Equipe and Volkswagen T-Roc tied for the lowest view-to-lead ratio. So, while Queenslanders may love to gawk at big utes and 4WDs, actual buyers are drawn to cars that offer a bit more practicality.

SA's Most-Viewed and Fastest-Moving Cars

Holden reigns supreme down south, with the Aussie automaker's most-famous model, the Holden Commodore, the most-viewed car in South Australia in July. In fact, Holden took out both categories last month, with the Holden Calais recording the lowest view-to-lead ratio amongst South Australian buyers. Clearly, there's something in the water down there that is keeping Holden top of mind.

TAS's Most-Viewed and Fastest-Moving Cars

Tasmania's a small place, but they love their cars just as much as the rest of Australia. Last month, the Toyota Hilux was the most-viewed car in Tassie, indicating a preference for practicality amongst the island's residents. In terms of leads, however, the lesser-known Subaru Liberty took the top spot, with the lowest view-to-lead ratio in July. So, while a grunty Hilux might be what Tasmanians are dreaming of, reliable sedans are what they're inquiring about.

VIC's Most-Viewed and Fastest-Moving Cars

It makes sense that the former home of Holden would still be in love with their cars, with the Holden Commodore the most-viewed car in Victoria in July. But while Victorians may love staring at Holdens, they're not particularly interested in buying them. What they were interested in was the Mercedes-Benz S430, which returned the lowest view-to-lead ratio this past month. Although there aren't many of them out there, the semi-retro styling and early 2000s charm of this luxury sedan make it easy to understand what had buyers so interested.

WA's Most-Viewed and Fastest-Moving Cars

Western Australia and Queensland share more than a few similarities, and a love of the Toyota Land Cruiser is one of them. But as in Queensland, interest doesn't necessarily translate into inquiries. For those, dealers should be looking at the Renault Clio, which returned the lowest view-to-lead ratio in July.

If you've noticed a trend across the states, it's this: while Aussies love their 4WDs, it's cost-effective hatchbacks that actually get them to pull out their wallets.
