FORD’S long-awaited all-electric F-150 right-hand drive is now available in Australia, but don’t ask at your local Ford dealer.

The RHD electric Lightning ute is converted and imported by Queensland-based AusEV in conjunction with Advanced Manufacturing Queensland.

The electric Lightning goes on sale in Australia with a dual-motor 4x4 layout.

The Standard Range delivers 337kW/1050Nm with a claimed 0-100km/h sprint time of about 5.0 seconds. Not enough? The top-shelf Extended Range has 433kW/1050Nm and comes with a  claimed 0-100km/h time of 4.0 seconds.F150 interiorThe Standard Range has a 98kWh battery with an estimated driving range of 370km while the Extended Range has a much larger 131kWh battery and an extended driving range of up to 515km.

Included on the Australian-converted model is a CCS2 charging port compatible with the majority of public charging stations. AusEV said it can be recharged from 15 to 80 per cent in 41 minutes when using a 150kW DC fast charger.

Features include an electronically-locking rear axle, tyre-pressure monitoring system, 20-inch wheels with 275/60 tyres, heated front seats, 12-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto, an electric tailgate and a one-pedal drive mode.

The ute also has a ‘frunk’ (front luggage area) with a decent 400-litre capacity.F150 front trunkBraked towing capacity is 4500kg and the payload is up to 1000kg.

AusEV lists options including a tow package ($3000) and a bed liner ($980).

The ute doesn’t come cheap — at $224,990 plus on-road costs for the entry-level version (and up to $254,990 plus costs for the top-shelf Extended Range) it is more than twice the price of Ford’s F-150 petrol ute that starts at $106,950 plus costs.

AusEV back its electric Ford up with a three-year, unlimited distance ‘bumper-to-bumper’ warranty and five years for the drivetrain components.

It also offer five years of free servicing and roadside assistance over the warranty period.
