March's Most-Viewed Cars

We Aussies love our cars, but there are some we love more than others. This March, there were five models that caught the attention of Only Cars users more than anything else. Check them out below.

1. Toyota LandCruiser

2022 Toyota Landcruiser

In what will come as little surprise to most of you, the Toyota LandCruiser was our most-viewed vehicle in March. Possibly Australia's best-loved car, the LandCruiser's versatility and famed toughness makes it a popular option across the country, from the streets of Sydney to the deserts of the Northern Territory.

While we won't draw any conclusions just yet, it feels safe to say the LandCruiser will be at the top of the list next month and for many more to come.

2. Holden Commodore

If the Land Cruiser is Australia's most-loved car, the Holden Commodore is certainly our most iconic. Although it has been nearly five years since the Holden brand was retired, interest in its signature model remains high. With thousands of Commodores still on Australian roads, and with an extensive back catalogue of iconic production years to hold enthusiasts' interests, we don't see the Commodore dropping off the map any time soon.

3. Toyota Hilux

The workhorse of the Australian trades, the Toyota Hilux was our third most-viewed model of March. Reliable, dependable, and rugged as anything, the Hilux is the Land Cruiser's understated little brother, and has been helping Aussies work and explore for generations. With an extensive range of model varieties to choose from, we expect the versatile Hilux to be a mainstay on this list.

4. Toyota Corolla

It was almost a Toyota clean sweep in March, with the Toyota Corolla securing fourth-place amongst our most-viewed models. Although it doesn't capture the hearts and minds like the Land Cruiser or Hilux, the Corolla remains one of Australia's most popular and affordable runabouts, with hatchback varieties holding tremendous appeal for city-dwellers.

5. Ford Ranger

There was always going to be room for one Ford in the top-five, and the Ford Ranger secured the final spot in March. While you won't see it out in the bush with the same regularity as a Land Cruiser or patrolling a mine site like a Hilux, there's no denying the Ranger's immense appeal, especially in the capital cities. As one of Australia's best-selling cars over the last few years, you can expect to see the Ranger remain among our most-viewed models moving forward.

As the Commodore has shown us, Australia still has a healthy appetite for Holdens, with the Holden Barina offering the most leads for the fewest views in March. Although collectors aren't lining up to snap up the remaining Barinas on the market, the iconic little hatchback is still drawing attention.

4. Toyota Yaris

2018 Audi Q2 35 TFSI design Auto MY19 4

It had to be another hatchback, and the Toyota Yaris gladly obliged by taking the fourth spot in March. A current production model with a proud history in Toyota's lineup, the Yaris' combination of compact size and affordability might make it the ultimate inner-city car, a distinction which will no doubt see it in these rankings throughout the year.

5. Volkswagen Golf

Rounding out our little lineup in March is the Volkswagen Golf. Although some production years have developed a reputation for unreliability and costly headaches, this zippy little hatchback remains a firm favourite in the eyes of Australian buyers. With a range of models offering options at various margins, the Golf should be a near-permanent addition to any dealer's used lineup.
