The MGU9, the Chinese car maker's debut ute, now has a limited run Black Edition, and Australia is the first country to get it. Featuring distinctive blacked out styling, it follows the successful launch of the brand's pickup, just eight months ago.

The introduction of the Black Edition rounds out MG’s current diesel ute line-up, which includes the Explore, Explore X and Explore Pro variants. The new offering features dark accents, including the grille, badging, wheel caps and side trims.

It gets a stamped tailgate too, while inside there's a black headliner and pillars. Under the bonnet is a 2.5-litre turbo diesel engine paired with a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission and a three-lock system for greater grip when off-roading.

With a 3.5-tonne towing capacity, spacious tray and 18-inch all-terrain alloy wheels as standard, the Black Edition also introduces towing cruise control (TCC), with activated towing. The MGU9 features locally developed multi-link independent rear suspension.

Inside the MGU9 Black Edition

An electric-opening tailgate is standard, with the MG ute backed by a 7-year warranty. The Black Edition is priced at $57,990 drive away. You can find out more on the MG Motor Australia website, or by talking to your local dealership.
