This is the wide bodied 3rd generation of Subaru’s famous line of Impreza WRX hatchbacks. These WRX vehicles were also available in Japan in special STI (Subaru Tecnica International) guise, with a 2.5 Litre turbo intercooled engine (instead of the usual WRX 2.0L) that featured a top mounted intercooler, with a choice of 6 speed manual or 5 speed automatic transmissions.
This particular model is the A-Line Special edition, which was offered from 2009 & was only offered in automatic
transmission form.
As mentioned above, this WRX STI has the famous 2.5 Litre EJ25 DOHC turbocharged horizontal/boxer 4 cylinder petrol engine (with top mounted intercooler), which is mated to a 5 speed automatic transmission with sports shift & steering wheel mounted shift paddles,.
On top of all this, is the security of Subaru’s full-time All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) with Si-Drive, for constant on road traction & extra security (when needed) on those wet slippery roads.
The All-Wheel-Drive system is Subaru’s Intelligent-Drive (Known as SI-Drive) which has three modes: sport, sport sharp & intelligent. All controlled via button controls on the centre console.
This is the same body etc as the Australian delivered 3rd generation Impreza WRX STI, which wasn’t sold locally in Australia until 2011.
