Seller's Comment

1966 Porsche 912 SWB – Factory RHD | 2.2L 911T Power | Beautifully Presented

Offered for sale is my 1966 Porsche 912 Short Wheelbase Coupe – an exceptionally well-presented, factory right-hand-drive Australian-delivered car that combines the purity and charm of the early SWB chassis with the performance and drivability of a later 2.2-litre Porsche flat six.

Rather than being a concours museum piece, this is a car that has been meticulously improved and sorted to be driven and enjoyed.

Power comes from a genuine 1970 Porsche 911T 2.2-litre engine (Type 911/07) breathing through rebuilt Zenith 40 TIN carburettors and paired with a 123 Ignition electronic distributor for excellent reliability and crisp performance. The engine delivers the unmistakable sound and character that made the early air-cooled 911 famous.

The car retains everything enthusiasts love about the early short-wheelbase cars:

  • Factory right-hand drive
  • 1966 SWB chassis
  • Lightweight, analogue driving experience
  • 901 five-speed gearbox
  • Exceptional steering feel and feedback
  • Classic long-bonnet styling

Over recent years the car has benefited from significant mechanical attention and ongoing maintenance. Numerous components have been rebuilt or renewed, including the carburettors, ignition system, seat hardware, heater controls, door mechanisms and many other details that make the car enjoyable to own rather than another restoration project.

This Porsche presents beautifully throughout and attracts attention everywhere it goes. It is equally at home on a Sunday morning drive, a club event or simply sitting proudly in the garage.

Included with the sale are documentation, receipts and a range of spare parts accumulated during ownership.

This is an opportunity to purchase one of the most engaging early air-cooled Porsches available. Genuine factory RHD SWB cars are becoming increasingly difficult to find, particularly examples that have been thoughtfully developed into reliable, usable driver’s cars.

Inspection is welcomed for genuine buyers.
