Mercedes-Benz dealer LSH Auto to bring smart back down under
smart are returning to Australia following confirmation that LSH Auto and smart Automobile Co, the latter a joint venture between Mercedes-Benz AG and Geely Holding Group, will bring German designed and engineered premium EVs down under.
The new smart #1 and smart #3, along with a high-performance Brabus version of each, will offer trendsetting, spacious five-door electric motoring via LSH Auto showrooms in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
With models full of high tech safety features, a range of up to 440km from a single charge, and an entry price expected to be highly competitive with current non-premium EV offerings of similar size, the new smart models are expected to be popular.
The arrival of the brand down under forms part of a global business expansion in 2024 for smart, with the local operation to be owned by the brand themselves and distributed by LSH Auto Australia.
“The Australian market holds significant potential for growth, and with LSH Auto Australia’s extensive local resources and expertise, we are excited to join hands,” smart global CMO Mandy Zhang said.
“Together, we aim to promote the development of Australia’s intelligent all-electric new EV market and deliver a premium mobility experience to local customers.”
Full specifications and pricing will be announced next month, coinciding with the launch of a smart Australia website, allowing people to register their interest in the new models. It’s expected orders will open in July for September deliveries.
Brabus is a well known German tuning house that produces branded versions of a range of Mercedes-Benz and smart vehicles. Its packages include bodywork and interior changes, as well as performance upgrades.
